Answers to Frequently Asked Questions

Here we have covered a few of the most frequently asked questions.  If you have any other questions please feel free to email them to Karen.

Q:  How much does it cost to join a Southwest Michigan team?

A:  Depending on how many sponsors a team can get, the cost may vary from $50 a season to $150 a season.

Q:   How far do you travel for games?

A:  Depending on the division, the furthest we travel for regular season play (this does not include tournaments) is the Grand Rapids or Kalamazoo area.

Q:  How many games do you play?

A:  There are eight regular season games in the Spring and eight again in the Fall.

Q:  Are you involved in tournaments?

A:  Teams participate in a minimum of two tournaments a year.  Our club tournament is the Fort Wayne Invitational held in the middle of June.

Q:  When does the season run?

A:  There is a Spring and a Fall season.  The Fall season begins after Labor Day and ends the end of October.  The Spring season begins the first part of April and ends the first part of June.  Practices generally begin 3-4 weeks before the season begins.

Q:  How often are tryouts held?

A:  Group tryouts are held the end of June for U9-U14 Boys and U9-U19 Girls.  Group tryouts are held in December for U15-U19 Boys.  To see more information on this years tryouts go to the Tryout link on our home page.

Q:  Where are home games played?

A:  Home games are played at the St. Joe Kickers Club or Rocky Weed Lakeshore Soccer Complex depending on the division. 

Q:  How old must you be to play?

A:  You must be at least 8 years old, and no older than 18 by July 31st.

Q:  How often do you practice?

A:  Teams generally practice two times a week for 90 minutes.
